A no media error on the VJ-628 does not necessarily means that there is no paper in the printer.

If error displayed on it’s own:

  • Power off the printer and remove all the ink cartridges.
  • Power the printer on and reinsert all the cartridges, updating printer info after each one.
  • If the media isn’t tight against the platen coming off the roll, the media sensor at the back of the printer will read that the media is out. Remove the paper roll from the printer and put it back in, make sure that the paper at the back is tight. Then power the printer off and back on.
