We recommend following the steps below should you ever wish to swap from one ink set to another. Please note that in order to avoid any nozzle issues post conversion, we recommend that your printer's maintenance be up to date.

Dual CMYK <-> Pro Photo/XF/FLEX

Requirements:

  • If you are converting from 4 colour to 8 colour, please ensure that your VJ-628 has the firmware 2.01 or above installed.
  • 8 cleaning cartridges.

As you will be converting from 4 colour to 8 colour or vice-versa, you will need to perform following:

  1.  Longstore from VSM (8 cleaning cartridges will be required)
  2. Once the Longstore has been performed, restart the printer and VSM
  3. After relaunching VSM, you will be prompted to perform the initial ink charge
  4. It is during this process that you will need to insert the new Pro Photo ink cartridges
  5. Once completed, please print a nozzle check to confirm the good working of the printer

Pro Photo <-> Pro Photo XF

As the printer is already setup as 8 colour, the easiest method of converting to the XF inks is by printing Full Page Bleeds (also known as PRN's). These are large blocks of a single colour and are used to flush ink through the lines without wasting ink from the channels. You can print the PRN's from the printer utilities section in the SPM menu. Set the number of copies to 5 for the Black, Light Black and Light Light Black channels.

Pro Photo <-> FLEX

As the ink slots 5-8 are drastically different, the best way to convert from Pro Photo to FLEX is to perform a Longstore from VSM followed by an ink charge.

  1.  Longstore from VSM (8 cleaning cartridges will be required)
  2. Once the Longstore has been performed, restart the printer and VSM
  3. After relaunching VSM, you will be prompted to perform the initial ink charge
  4. It is during this process that you will need to insert the new FLEX ink cartridges
  5. Once completed, please print a nozzle check to confirm the good working of the printer
